Nuestra lengua es pues depositaria del resultado de un cruce de civilizaciones milenarias único y fascinante que se dio en el Mediterráneo. En Baena, ubicada en el centro geográfico de Andalucía, se encontraron iberos, romanos, visigodos, árabes, y cristianos del norte. Por sus tierras pasaron comerciantes del este, viajeros ilustres, ejércitos legendarios y peregrinos llenos de fe. Es la historia de la península ibérica representada en el devenir de este pueblo cuyo sonoro nombre es también sinónimo de aceite y de olivos. Baena, located in the geographical centre of Andalusia, was once the home of the Iberian people, of Romans, Visigoths, Arabs, and Christians coming from the north. Eastern merchants, illustrious travellers, legendary armies and pilgrims full of faith also came to Baena. It is the history of the Iberian Peninsula represented in the evolution of this town whose sonorous name is also synonymous for oil and olive trees.
